the weekly recipe: Palmier biscuit

Here is a new weekly post that I try to settle!!! Every week I will share with you a recipe that I tested on Sunday.

Today: Palmier biscuit

This is a french biscuit that you can find in a supermarket or at the bakery Paul ( for those who know )

What  you need:

a puff pastry roll

50g of butter ( non-salty )

sugar ( a lot )

How do I do?

Start by pre-heating your oven at 200°C. On a bake tray, put your roll of puff pastry on an ovenproof sheet. Spread sugar on the puff pastry. Melt your butter in the microwave and spread it on the puff pastry too. Roll the two longer side of the puff pastry, so they join each other in the middle. Cut 1cm slices and then put them flat on the ovenproof sheet. Re-shape the biscuit, so it look like a heart. Spread sugar on the biscuit. Bake for 15-20 min. When they are golden on the top, it’s ready. You can also turn them half way if you prefer.

Let them cool down, and enjoy!!!

Children and parents will love those lovely biscuits for a yummy snack!!!! Or just to impress some friends (and family in law)…

Bon Appétit !

City Break: Lyon

During this summer I spent two weeks in France in my home town to visit my family and my friend, and one day I met up with two old friends in the wonderful city of Lyon. I don’t really like the people there, but the city was worth visiting! It was sunny and it reminded me south of France. So if you decide to go for a weekend or more, or just stop by while you are driving to the South you can climb the hill called Fourvière and have an amazing view of Lyon, watch the famous Guignols, and eat in one of the brasserie. The old Lyon is definitely a must see, and you can find also boutiques of independent designers. Or you can go to a mall…

To get there: Aéroport Saint Exupéry or TVG station La part Dieu or Lyon Perrache (train from Paris)

And who knows, you might meet a french celebrity…

Recipe of the day: Cucumber Gazpacho

This cold soup is very refreshing during hot days, quick and cheap!!! As I didn’t have a lot of stuff in my fridge and it was a very hot day, I didn’t want a hot meal and I just brought back my mixer from my parents house, so in 10 sec my cold soup was ready and my boyfriend ( who was not convinced by the idea )  loved it!!!!

What you need:

A cucumber

Philadelphia cheese

Pepper

Salt

Chives

A green pepper

A greek yogurt

Cut the cucumber and the green pepper in pieces, put it in a mixer, add the rest of the ingredients and mix!

Tips: Don’t hesitate to season it and keep it in the fridge for an hour at least so it will be very cold when you ready to eat.

BON APPÉTIT

Trend report

GOING FOR GOLD

As we are in the middle of the Olympic Games, that the English won their first gold medal today and because I live in London,  I am taken over by the fever of the JO, so I decided to write a little post about GOLD and to let you know that this gold trend is on its way for this Autumn-Winter season as well, we will prefer it old and slightly shiny.

I fell in love with the ultimate coat for this winter…

I was checking what was happening during Paris Fashion week and I ended up reading Vogue.it/co.uk/com/fr and I discovered that I need a new coat for this winter : THE COCOON COAT.

We’ve already seen the shape last year, but as it’s still on this season, and appears better, you will be still IN with it!!!!

Here is a selection of the ones that I fell in love with:                                           Jil Sander                                                            Matthew Williamson

For the little story it’s Balenciaga that fisrt designed it.

And I don’t know about you, but for me it reminds me the pink coat in the advert Miss Dior Chérie and I think one of this coat in a yellow tone, or grey or old gold will look astonishing with a pair of cat eyes sunglasses for this winter…

Now that I know what I want, I have to get to work and come up with a pattern and the perfect fabric… I’ll keep you update!!!
